Delaware State University has completed its search for a new president.
The DSU Board of Trustees voted unanimously Friday to appoint Wilma Mishoe the university’s 11th president.
Mishoe has served as the interim president since January when Harry Williams left to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. She was the first woman to serve as acting president of the university.
Devona Williams announced the decision in a letter to the university community, calling Mishoe a “dynamic leader” who leads with “distinction, integrity, and care.” Williams was named the Board of Trustees chair Friday.
Mishoe is the daughter of late DSU President Luna Mishoe, who held the post from 1960 to 1987. She made history last summer when she was appointed the first female board chair in DSU’s 127 year history.
Mishoe will formally take over as president July 1.
